Initial Thoughts: Problems

Although today is only our first lesson, we have already began to discuss the problems that we may face during the year. Because we have chosen to create a horror movie promotional package, there are several elements that we need to consider, like:

- Lighting (typical horror movies have very low lighting)
- Setting (camera equipment can only be used in school unless we supply our own camera)
- Magazine front covers (no group members have ever seen a movie magazine promoting a horror movie on its front cover)
- Characters (the horror movies we have discussed all have characters that are either young children or white middle-aged men

On our next page ('Pre-production'), we will research these issues and hopefully find ways to overcome them, as well as begin to plan our own trailer, poster and magazine front cover.

Initial Ideas: Genre

We have chosen to create a horror movie promotional package. From what we already know about the genre, the storylines in horror movies are not typically very elaberate, and there is little sophisticated technology used within the movies. These elements will make the creation process of our promotional package - which we all think will be helpful as by the end of the year we will need to finish 3 pieces of media (a movie trailer, movie poster, and magazine front cover), which is three times more than what we had to acheive last year.

Our Coursework Problem

To produce a promotional package for a new film, to include trailer, together with:
-A film magazine front cover, featuring a film
-A poster for the film
(all images and sounds must be original)
